     2. Important Information about Primavera P6 software
        Older versions of Primavera P6 are well-known for being the not the typical retail "out-of-the-box" software. P6 PPM consists of inter-dependent computer programs that work together; Microsoft SQL (or Oracle XE) database, .NET Framework, Java and the Primavera P6 software itself.

        When you are working on your projects in P6, the data is saved in the database, and not in the P6 PPM software. 

        Since P6 is designed to work in a database driven manner, it means that the installation and the set-up of P6 can get a little complex. Oracle will not sell you the software without their Mandatory Technical Support (at extra cost), on top of providing you with over 12 Installation / Technical manuals and various documentation. Most companies have an IT department or have an IT expert that can handle the technical aspects of installing P6 and smooth running of the software. If you don't have an in-house IT department, don't worry. At AM-iLearning, we have the experience and expertise to get your software installed and running properly. We also provide Extended Technical Support as and when you need it.


        SQLite Database Issue

        From Release 8.4, Primavera P6 Professional and EPPM include a simpler database (SQLite), which will be installed by default. Backing up your database is now as easy as copying a file folder because SQLite is a serverless database engine. For users who have struggled with Oracle XE or Microsoft SQL Server, SQLite is a great option.

        However, there is a trade-off for simplicity! Oracle’s Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) are not compatible with SQLite. Something most of us would ever realize, Claim Digger (a FREE tool included with P6) is not accessible when using SQLite, in some versions. For many, this is a deal-breaker. Claim Digger is used to analyze files. In some situations, when clients have more than one version of a baseline schedule or update on their server and they no longer remember why, Claim Digger will tell us what the differences are. If some of these files are in fact identical we can delete them without any concern.

        Most owners also expect contractors to explain what changes were made during the update process, and the Claim Digger report usually suffices.

        Also, because SQLite is truly a single-user environment, here are some other restrictions:
        • There are no User or Security Profiles, as there can only be one user.
        • All projects are opened in Shared mode; Read Only and Exclusive modes are disabled.
        • Sending e-mail notifications of Project Issues is not supported.
        • Advanced import options are disabled for projects in XML format.
        • Check In and Check Out of projects are disabled.
        • There are no options to save data for All Users or Another User (layouts, etc.).
        • Job Services is not supported; Jobs cannot be scheduled.
        • Update Baseline and Risk Analysis are not supported.

              4. Shipping of orders is dependent on the timely response to our RFI.

              6. We use a range of third-party delivery service providers. Delivery of your order is the responsibility of these delivery services.
