~~ RARE Pre-WWII "PARIS CHIC" French Fashion

ORIGINAL Catalogue Page GUSTAVE LYON #13 ~~

This lovely ORIGINAL, not reproduction, lithograph is a vintage page from the French fashion journal, "PARIS CHIC", (Gustave Lyon, Editor Paris and S. Reinach Co. New York, American Publisher) printed in the early 1940's during the German Occupation.

Shown a lovely design presumably available for sale or to order. At the bottom of the page each numbered design is vividly described in French. The insignia of Gustave Lyon, (initials "GL" at the top of what could be a peacock feather or a braid in oval frame) also appears on the page.

Printed on medium weight cream-colored paper and free of text on the back measuring approximately 7 3/4 x 15 5/8 inches.  In very good condition with some overall evidence of handling, minor yellowing to edges, minor soiling near bottom edge, light bends to bottom right corner area and light bends to top corner tips.

According to the book, Fashion Under the Occupation, by Dominique Veillon, "Paris Chic" was published during the German Occupation of France under the strict guidelines of the Germans within the French fashion industry.

Apart from mild soiling, slight darkening to edges and as noted above, overall the condition is very good especially for a print of this age and history.
