About the ACR GlobalFix V4 Cat 1 EPIRB (Automatic)

The GlobalFIX™ V4 is a full-featured EPIRB loaded with high-efficiency electronics for performance you can count on, including an internal 66 channel GPS for faster acquisition from a cold start. A protective keypad cover helps prevent false activation, and the all-new, user-replaceable battery pack has a 10-year replacement interval, reducing the overall ownership cost and simplifying replacement when required.

Category I beacons such as the ACR GlobalFix V4 Cat 1 are designed to be automatically deployed and activated in the event of a vessel sinking. The beacon may also be manually taken out of the category I bracket and activated manually or immersed in water to activate automatically.

Upon initiation of a distress call, the GlobalFIX V4’s built-in GPS will fix your position to within a few meters and then utilizes a powerful 406 MHz signal to relay your distress call to orbiting satellites. The GlobalFIX™ V4 is subscription-free and does not rely on commercial call centres, meaning your request for help is received directly by Search and Rescue authorities. When triggered, the GlobalFIX™ V4 broadcasts a unique registered distress signal that not only tells rescuers where you are, but who you are. This is typically within 5 minutes, but can be up to 45 minutes depending on satellite coverage.

The GlobalFIX™ V4 also features a 121.5 MHz secondary homing transmitter which means that once Search and Rescue teams have been deployed, they are able to home in on your exact location. The rescue is assisted by a highly visible, energy efficient LED strobe built into the EPIRB.

Once an emergency request has been initiated, the GlobalFIX™ V4’s lithium power cell offers a minimum 48hr continuous operation and a 10-year battery storage life. Performing a full functional self-test of the EPIRB’s internal circuitry, battery voltage & power and 406 MHz transmission gives you the peace of mind knowing your EPRIB will work the moment you need it the most.

GlobalFIX™ V4 offers the very latest in marine electronic lifesaving technology:

  • Highly visible LED strobe
  • Energy efficient Internal 66 channel GPS
  • Faster acquisition from a cold start High efficiency electronics
  • Performance you can count on User replaceable battery
  • 10 year battery life Professional grade design
  • Engineered, tested and built for years of use in harsh environments
  • Simple manual activation
  • Keypad with protective cover to prevent false alarms

EPIRBs have been proven, tried and tested in some of the world's most remote locations and treacherous conditions. Even in extreme conditions and situations, the GlobalFIX™ V4 activates easily.

Unlike most satellite enabled notification devices, the GlobalFIX™ V4 requires no monthly or annual subscription, making it one of the most cost effective GPS enabled emergency beacons available for long term use.

Registering your EPIRB is required by law in most countries. Registering is very important because should your beacon ever be activated, it is how Search and Rescue Teams will know who you are, and contacts provided may be able to supply information about your specific travel plans. In the absence of this information, it may take longer for a search-and-rescue operation to begin.

Some national authorities require a completed registration application form to be submitted by letter or fax, others offer an online registration. For more information, visit Cospas Sarsat emergency beacon database website. The addresses of the national authorities are listed on these sites.

All PLB’s and EPIRBs sold by GTC are pre-programmed with the UK country code. Whilst they will function anywhere around the world, the initial point of contact during an emergency situation would be the UK Search & Rescue authorities with whom the device would be registered. Please contact us before purchasing if you wish to have your EPIRB shipped with configuration for use in a country other than UK.

Please note this EPIRB is not suitable for registration or use in Australia and New Zealand.

This EPRIB should only be used in situations of grave and imminent danger to life. False alerts endanger lives and cause expensive disruption to Search & Rescue services. Deliberate misuse of the device could result in a penalty.
