A scarce publication when it comes to being able to purchase it. This is  a LARGE, French language, hardcover folio (12 5/8" x 18 3/8") from the 1884 Brussel's lace exhibit entitled Album de L'Exposition de L'Art Ancien Bruxelles 1884 La Dentelle. C. Claesen, Editor. Published by Librairie Speciale des Arts Industries et Decoratifs, Paris, presumably in 1884.

The red boards folio cover  house  loosely inserted pages which include a text on laces by Mr. Le Chanoine Reusens, professor at the Universite de Louvain (7 pages) followed by 30 plates with black and white lace photographs by J. Claesen. (Thirty plates is the complete set for this publication.)

The laces shown here include both bobbin and needle, and I have quite a few pictures of them. If you care to see them, send me an e-mail. My "favorite"  here is plate no 16 with a 16 century figural Flemish lace, where the little squares are combined checkerboard style to form a large tablecloth.  What's really wonderful,  is that the cloth is finished with a "fringe" or "scalloping" resembling the figures created for checkerboard. see the picture with red marker and two following it.

One last bit of descriptive information, the red folio cover is equipped with three pairs of fabric, possibly linen, ties,

CONDITION OF FOLIOGood Condition. There is foxing all over the white paper, most significant on the pages of introduction - see pictures.
