Extra Large Hand Painted Cherub, with a gorgeous angelic face, finish and details.

A very elegant and charming gift for someone special or collector.

Rare and hard to find this size and with this lovely a finish.

This cherub was hand-cast in antique molds in the same manner as those made in the old days.   It is hand-painted and finished in the antique "encarnado" manner which is a life-like style commissioned by Latin American churches in the 1500s.   Exquisitely and artistically finished with stunning detail from every angle. Weighs over 2 lbs.

The cherub is about 19 1/2" tall x 9 1/2" wide (wingspan) and 5 1/2" depth (bottom to top). Measurements are approximate because the wings are curved in.

Cherub is "hanging onto a curtain drape with legs crossed.   Wings are spread open, slightly curved in and finished in gold leaf.  Can be displayed various ways:  on its back as shown in photos or can be hung through the loop in a wall corner or against a wall or curtain tapestry.

We are not ceramic experts and do not know what these are made of other than upon purchase we were told that they were made in the "same manner as they might have been made in the olden days."  Could be a type of white clay,  bisque porcelain, chalkware, putti, if you have knowledge of bygone hand cast molding, your input is welcome. They appear to be hand cast with some drippings and putty like appearance on the inside which is cold to the touch.

This is a vintage piece, hand made and noted that it has some surface imperfections which are original to the design and to its character and handmade character.  For example, you will note that in one of the photos, their is a smudge of gold leaf paint on the orange "curtain" part near the cherub's right inner elbow.

This piece has never been used or displayed but did suffer damage during international shipping.  The backside area of the lower left wing is broken and could possibly be repaired however it can be used as is.

There are 4 photos that show front and back of the cherub in its entirety from top to bottom.  As you can see from the photos, the wingspan damage in the back does not show when the cherub is displayed on its back (nor against a wall or a corner)   See last 2 photos to view wing with the damage which measures about 1 x 2 1/4". Both wings are attached to the cherub. Please message if you have any other questions.

This cherub is the last of its kind being sold on eBay and has been discounted taking into account its condition.  It is sold as is, no returns accepted.
