The House of Fontanini was founded in 1908 by Italian artist, Emanuele Fontanini. He got his start in a one room shop in the small Italian village of Bagni di Lucca, after honing his skills in some of Europe’s most esteemed art centers. Beautiful nativity figures became the main focus of his talents, and his artistic legacy still lives on today with the fourth generation of Fontaninis continuing the family business. So respected is the Fontanini name that Pope John Paul II chose one of their 50 inch nativity sets for his private quarters. Various other Fontanini figures are widely used in churches and cathedrals around the world, and have been featured in many film and television projects.
