New Belt to suit most AR Acoustic Research turntables.

This is the correct Narrow Width belt to suit AR turntables.

The AR Turntable

Not suitable for the AR-11 (which was manufactured by Yamaha, and uses the FRL35.1 available here). 

 

Supplied with pure talcum powder (unscented, it’s not baby powder!) and shaker bag to dress the belt before fitting. This is essential for correct operation.

 

Fitting instructions:

 

Remove the main platter

 

Carefully clean the edge face of the sub-platter and the motor pulley with isopropyl alcohol. Itճ important to remove any old belt residue. A green kitchen scrubbing pad can be useful if there is a buildup of residue, but donմ use steel wool or anything more abrasive. In most cases it’s easier to remove the sub-platter as well, making sure to keep the bearing faces clean. The motor pulley can be cleaned with a cotton bud (Q-tip).

 

Eucalyptus oil can also be very good for removing any stubborn belt residue, but always follow with a thorough alcohol clean afterwards!

 

Place the new belt inside the bag containing talcum powder, and give it a shake to coat the belt. Remove the belt, shake it off to remove excess powder (do this away from the turntableɡ), then carefully fit the belt around the sub-platter and pulley.

 

Remember, the powder is important, as it creates the correct amount of slip to allow the motor to start correctly!
