For sale is a superb porcelain figurine made in the Soviet
Union by the Armfarfor porcelain factory in Yerevan (the capital) in
Armenia in the late 1940's or maybe very early 50s. The factory was founded in
about 1948 but I cannot find out much information about it due to the
language barrier. The figurine reminds me a bit of the Natalia Danko
pieces made by the Lomonosov factory. Either way it is a superb figurine
perfect for this period of Russian porcelain. It depicts a Russian lady
with a sheep or lamb. Likely an Uzbek lady since she is wearing that
cap in her hair maybe a shepherdess or something. The figurine is in
perfect condition but is really dirty which is easily cleaned if need
be. There is a tiny bit of gold wear and she has a stray black paint
mark near her chin from the making which is probably why she is denoted
as being third quality! The figure is marked underneath with their green
mark - first the letters standing for porcelain factory and underneath
Erevan plus the green number 3c for the quality and a 44 or yy or
something as well as a green dot near the edge. The figurine is 5 inches
tall, 4.25 inches wide and 4 inches deep.
