MONARK TYPE II in Black
Built in USA
DUAL SPRINGER BIKE FORK
Our 3rd generation of this very popular and famous springer fork represents the strongest and highest quality fork of this type made anywhere today. This fork rides as good as it looks.
Considered by many to be
"THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SPRINGER EVER PRODUCED"
Built in our Santa Monica, California shop since 2006
QUALITY IS REMEMBERED LONG AFTER PRICE IS FORGOTTEN
After offering the reproduced Monark Springer Fork for over 14 years, we listened to our customers, implemented the changes they wanted, and are now offering this much improved version of the original.
Improvements are:
HD Welding
Beefed up and reinforced welding of all structural members, this fork is now suitable for standard and motorized bike applications.
Black Powder Coated Heavy Duty Springs and Parts
Larger black powder coated springs provide much smoother action. Springs on our previous version were smaller and only zinc plated. These new springs add to the beauty and function of the fork. Springs are made by O'hare Spring Co. and are black powder coated as are the cover plate and top plate by Aircoat.
Laser Cut Gauge Stainless Steel Bottom Rockers
Type 2 rockers are now laser cut from 3/16 stainless steel. The axle slot openings are sized for modern axles. We now use brass bushings inserted into the rockers for unbelievably smooth action. They look really good too!
Headset/Bearing Race Now included
For use on all 1 inch threaded bicycle frames that will allow for a 7 inch or shorter steering tube length. The steering tube is 7 inches overall which includes 2 inches of threads that can be cut to size for a custom fit, or shimmed.
Adapters are available to use on newer 1 1/8 threadless frames.
What is the difference between the Type 1 and Type 2 Monark Springer Fork?
The only difference is the rocker. The Type 2 rocker is made from laser cut 3/16 thick stainless steel, and has axle cutouts made for larger, modern axles.
The Type 1 rocker is made from 1/8 inch plated steel, is the same as was used on the vintage Monark fork.
For motorized and anticipated heavy use, we recommend the Monark Type 2.
For vintage bikes and for those seeking the original vintage look, we recommend the Monark Type 1.
For those who want a front brake, we offer our fork with a disc brake adapter:
