Pease (1916-1967) traind in the U.S. and while he did sing in concerts in the U.S. and opera at the New York City Opera, he essentially had a European career and mostly at Covent Garden.  He died in his hotel room at the age of 51 during the NYCO opera season in 1967.  Rare!
