The best way to ensure you get a proper fit is to measure your head around the widest point across your ears (for deep crown),  above your ears (for shallow crown) comfortably.  Please measure your head for more accurate hat sizing.

I prewash and dry all fabric before I cut or sew.

If you dry your hat on high heat you will still see some shrinkage.
