Vintage Carl Vulzar Violin with Case & Bow 2 Piece Belly & Back

Here is a nice well made Vintage Violin made by Carl Vulzan for your buying consideration.   Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself!

You do not find nice vintage made violins like this very often.  Has a nice sound to it.  The violin was probably made in the early 1900s, could be a bit older than that. 

The violin has a label in it that says, "Carl Vulzar" in script.  Done by  a reputable luthier shop, not some mass manufactured piece out of Germany.

The pictures do not do justice to the beauty of this violin.  Beautiful inlaid purfling on this violin.  The violin has a two piece soundboard and two piece back.  Nice golden brown stain on the of the entire violin.  Beautiful arching to the belly and back of this violin, not a factory made violin here, very well crafted.   

Some minor finish loss and minor nicks over the years to the body of the violin.  Some hairlines emanating from the bottom and saddle of the violin.  Two of the hairlines are about 4.75" in length.  Look at the pictures of the soundboard/belly very closely in zoom mode to see what we are describing. The tuning pegs, tailpiece, chin rest, and end peg are very well done on this violin.  

The back of the violin is quite intact and just beautiful.  Some finish loss along the edges and on the back and on the lower part where laying against someone's shoulder.  

Nice inlaid purfling on the front and back.  Beautiful f hole, and scroll work.  The corner blocks are in place.  The beaks look good.  The fingerboard has some finish loss, but no ridging that would impede string play.  Some tape on the fingerboard that can be easily removed.  The four tuning pegs match.  The soundboard and back are tightly glued to the sides, no separations to report.

The sound post is in place.  Cannot guarantee it will be once shipped to you.  The maple back's finish has a translucent look to it when you view it, nice tiger striping.  The purfling appears to all be in place.  

The neck is securely attached to the body of the violin.  No repairs to the neck, tuner box or tuner peg holes.  No cracks or splits there.  The scroll on the end of the neck is very well done. The belly and back of the violin are still securely glued to the sides.  Beaks show some minor wear.

The violin is 23-1/8" long, by 8.25" across at the lower bout and 6.5" across at the upper bout.  The violin body is 14.25" long.  

There is also a violin bow that is not marked.  Round shaft.  No maker's mark.  The ebony frog looks good.  The mother of pearl cat eyes are in place on both sides and on the bottom of the frogs.  Some moderate finish loss to the shaft, no cracks or repairs.  Electrical tap winding is in place.  Bow will need rehairing at some juncture.  Bow weighs 1.7 ounces and is 28-5/16" long.

The violin is an older hard case that shows some wear and staining to the outside finish.  Latches work.  No key for the case.  Top pocket cover has come loose.  A pitch pipe and some ole  Case holds the violin very securely the way designed inside, see pic.

The violin will be securely wrapped in the case as well as on the outside to make sure it gets thru safely to you.  The strings, tuning pegs, and tailpiece will be removed to more safely ship the violin to you.  So, expect some reassembly.  The violin comes with a tailpiece and the end pin is in place as well.

This musical instrument is not represented to be in playing condition.  There will need to be refurbishing done to make this instrument playable again.  Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.

• No APO/FPO delivery.
• Items will be shipped via USPS or UPS Ground, based on the buyer's preference.
• Shipped on the same or next business day following receipt of full payment.
• UPS/USPS tracking number will be provided.

• Special shipping requests can be communicated and agreed upon at the time of sale.

If an item is shipped to a country outside of the United States, the buyer is responsible for any brokerage, tariffs, taxes, customs, or other charges imposed by that country.  The seller reserves the right to choose the international  shipping carrier based on shipping method selected at the time of payment.  The seller will not understate the value of any item on customs forms.

 

If you purchase or win more than one auction in which the items can safely be shipped together, we will send you a combined invoice.

Returns Policy

• Returns are accepted by seller within 14 days of receipt of item by buyer, where an item is not as described.  The Buyer will be assessed a 10% restocking fee should they decide to return this item for whatever the reason.
• Please note that a restocking fee is charged to to cover costs related to the loss of listing time and other potential sales, plus the amount of care and time that goes into preparing our unique and fragile items for shipping. 
• In accordance with eBay's Buyer Protection Program, the purchase price plus original shipping cost will be refunded to the buyer once the item has been received by the seller, minus the 10% restocking fee noted.
• Buyer would pay for the return shipping cost and any applicable insurance cost (item is the buyer's financial responsibility until the item is safely returned to the seller by shipper).
