The P5 is Cervélo’s latest creation, bringing to the world the most
advanced and the most aerodynamic triathlon/TT bike possible. Designed
using Formula 1-level Computational Fluid Dynamics software (CFD) and
proven in the wind tunnel, the P5 is six to 11 watts faster than other
so-called “superbikes”.
Fast and fit, this frameset is the most aerodynamic, best-fitting, and
best match of stiffness and comfort. it features a BBright™ bottom
bracket for ultimate power transfer and ComfortPly™ technology which
removes unnecessary material to reduce vibration and improve ride
quality. Proven as the fastest, its superiority is also demonstrated in
its simplicity. The low-maintenance exclusive hydraulic brake system
from Magura is aerodynamically superior and lighter than mechanical
brakes, and yet stops on a dime. Designed for speed and versatility,
this bike features a variety of custom and intuitive storage solutions
combining optimal aero locations with ease of access. Skin surfaces are
tuned for each AeroZone™ to optimize airflow conditions, resulting in
crucial time savings of ~30 seconds in a 40-kilometer race.
Adopted overnight by all of their top athletes, it already boasts seven
Ironman wins within six months, with outrageous records in the bike
split. David Zabriskie won his seventh U.S. Time Trial Championship on a
P5, and Caroline ”Xena” Steffen won the 2012 Ironman European
Championship. The ultimate proof? Ryder Hesjedal’s win at the 2012 Giro
d’Italia, with a decisive TT stage resulting in a 17 second overall
victory.

P5 BRAKING SYSTEM
The low-maintenance P5 brake system is aerodynamically superior to and
lighter than any standard caliper or disc brake. The rear brake of the
P5 is hidden below the chainstays under the bottom bracket for ultimate
speed.
The Magura system provides better stopping power and modulation even in
wet conditions. Hydraulics are easy to travel with and use common
Magura parts.
P5 STORAGE AND HYDRATION
The P5 offers multiple storage options, each one specifically positioned
to minimize aero drag, so you’re always ready to race. Cables and
battery are completely hidden inside the frame’s HiddenPocket™ for an
aero improvement of 10-20 grams, and for easy access and service.
The P5 features a horizontal standard two-bolt bottle cage between the
arms on the aerobar, which we have found to be by far the most aero
position. Two mounting bolts are also incorporated behind the stem to
allow for futher aero storage options.
P5 AERODYNAMICS
Engineering for speed means Cervelo had to take into account more than
just the bike frame. They had to consider the three-dimensional space
surrounding the bike and rider, including the downstream effects of
airflow as the rider moves forward. This aero zone concept changes the
whole design approach, and has allowed us to offer their riders a big
jump forward in performance as a result.
When Cervelo studied the position of the rider, the various bike
components and their downstream effects, there are significant
differences in airflow around different areas of the bike. Different
flows call for different airfoils: just one foil, used everywhere, is
not optimal. Designing a bike with different tube shapes in different
zones can offer the athlete a significant speed advantage.
P5 GEOMETRY / FIT
The P5 is not only faster, but it also fits better. Offering the widest
range of adjustability, the P5 will allow you to achieve your optimal
riding position. The frame also incorporates ComfortPly™, and BBright™
to ride comfort and efficiency.vv
