Up for auction is a working vintage Heathkit Model W-5M dual KT66 Power Audio Amplifier from the 50's (we substituted 6L6's for the KT66). All of the tubes are working and included as follows.....

2) 6L6GB (RCA, replaces the KT66)
1) 5U4GB (replaces the 5R4GY)
2) 12AU7

The back panel features a 4 screw terminal for Common, 4, 8, and 16 Ohm speakers, an RCA type input, an 8 pin PreAmp Power socket, 2 AC Receptacles, 1 normal and 1 switched and
a Bass-Balance Meter connection with a Bass-Balance Screw Adjustment on the top of the chassis. This amp also has the preferred Peerless Output Transformer # 16309 and is
rated at 25 watts output.

We tested it with a 8 Ohm speaker and a microphone on the input and it's very loud, works and sounds nice. Overall the amp is in good condition, but one volume control is a little scratchy when turned and one of the silver capacitors on the top of the chassis gets warm after about 15 minutes of running. It also should have a grounded power cord (for safety reasons). So just keep this in mind and the tubes are used and decades old so it will need some work to bring it back to its full potential. Cosmetically it has some age related wear but for 50+ years looks good and the cage is included and is in great shape as well. We also have the Heathkit Pre-Amp (112755153774) and the tuner (112755210121) up for sale so check them out too. It measures approximately 13" x 8 1/2" x 8"  and weighs about 24 lbs. unpacked.

I bring all tube amplifiers up to power slowly on a variac to avoid damage and properly reform the capacitors. Although I test these items to the best of my ability I'm not an expert by any means! Some may have been repaired or worked on by others, we may not be able to test all functions, there may be damaged components that we are unable to determine that may need replacing and others may be powered up without further testing so don't assume the item works 100% because it powers on. When purchasing 50+ year old items you should expect that work may need to be done to them and remember, the warranty ran out on our items decades ago and are sold as is as described.

Payment is appreciated within 3 days of receiving my invoice. I do combine auctions whenever possible to save you shipping costs. Please look at my other auctions for some very unique amplifier and vintage electronics!
