Vintage:  Extremely well made, very nice brass mortise lock with a push button lock, maker marked PENN HARDWARE on the box.

Circa 1890-1920.

FACEPLATE: Heavy brass face plate measures 6 3/4" by 1" wide and 1/8" thick brass.  Screws are on 6" centers.  Back of faceplate shows #8300 in the casting. 

MORTISE BOX: Box is 3 1/4" deep from the back of the front plate and it is 4 1/2" top to bottom. 

BACKSET:  The backset (the distance from the front edge of the faceplate to the center of the knob post hole) is 2 1/2". 

DROP: The drop (the distance from the center of the lock cylinder to the center of the knob post hole) is 2 3/8". 

KNOBPOST:  This lock utilizes a 3/8" knob post and/or a 3/8" to 5/16" transitional split pivot post, so you have very many options for knobs.

The lock is reversible. The lock comes with a Sargent lock cylinder and key.
