Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate is a derivative of Licorice Root that offers several benefits when applied topically to the skin. Often used to help soothe skin by reducing redness and inflammation, it is particularly useful in sensitive skin formulations. Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate works to reduce inflammation by inhibiting hyaluronidase. The inhibition of hyaluronidase helps maintain a higher level of hyaluronic acid in the skin, thereby improving suppleness and keeping skin hydrated and conditioned. Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate is also widely regarded as an effective skin lightener/brightener and antioxidant. It is often used in facial moisturizers, anti-aging products, sunscreens, cleansers, foundations, acne treatments, skin lighteners/brighteners, eye creams, and face masks.
In formulations, use Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate between a 0.1-1.0% concentration. It is soluble in water, glycerin, propylene glycol, and alcohol, and should be added in the water phase of your formulation.
