Antique Chinese Silk Kesi Kossu Purse Pouch Tassel Rank Badge Tapestry

This is an antique purse circa 1890 – 1920, made in China possibly for European taste. It is made from the rare silk tapestry weave called Kesi or Kossu. This might have been a fragment from a Rank Badge or Robe. It has two carved wooden beads, the top one slide to open the case. To reveal a bright peach coloured silk brocade and a mirror. A lid lifts off to expose three compartments. It has a long silk tassel,. The box purse measures 3 ¼ x 2 ½ inches and is 1 inch thick. It is in fair, good condition.
