Vintage TAOS Pueblo Hand Made Unique Versatile Rawhide Drum By Autumn Deer, rare, older than date we purchased, multi-functional 11" X 11" w/handle/strap hold/wear sash type.

As per Autumn Deer to us at the time (July 2015 the Drum Makers Shop in TAOS, NM) This particular drum was made 15-20 years before and brought back to him by a family member as the man he made it for passed on!

He told us, at that time of the drums the size we were looking at that  this was the one with the most functionality of use, as it can be held on lap, floor, stand and held by hand w/handle on side, as well as worn on side w/a sash to dance, which is how the man who used it for 15-20 years predominately used it, for ceremonial dancing.

Very beautiful old wood (Mesquite) very old, tight thick rawhide top well broken in and years of stretching (tuned well) also has the original pounding stick with it. 11 inches tall by 11 inches wide, top is 7.5 inches, bottom is 8.25, there are several knots, nubs, small indentation on one side, plus the bird head like stump out one side! Unique, character, very broken in w/lots of "CHI" Beautiful looking, sounding, feels great, smells good and several useful ways to use.
Not just a shelf dust collector piece! If you are a percussionist, drummer w/a bag of tricks to use w/o your big kit, this is the drum for you! Been played at our house by several great percussionists, drummers at our house parties!!

Signed and dated 7/2015 to us on purchase, but 20+ years older and very nice drum!!
