I was building a ham radio "screwdriver antenna" that consists of a large loading coil the moves in and out of a metal cylinder by an electric motor in order to tune the antenna over a broad range of frequencies. The finger stock is used to make contact between the loading coil and the cylinder. Here is a picture of the body and loading coil:

And here is a a close-up of the finger stock making contact with the loading coil:

I've been testing the antenna over the past several days, and it performs better than expected. Thank you for your help in making it possible!

Contact ring for a GI-46b. For this I shortened the contact strips to 7mm.
