Il Sensore di Gas MQ-9 è utile per rilevare perdite o presenza di gas, ha un' alta sensibilità al monossido di carbonio (CO), al metano e al GPL. Il sensore può essere utilizzato per rilevare diversi gas contenenti CO e gas combustibili. Il materiale sensibile è costituito da diossido di stagno (SnO2) che ha una conducibilità inferiore in aria pulita. La rilevazione viene effettuata con il metodo del ciclo di alta e bassa temperatura, a bassa temperatura (riscaldato a 1,5 V) viene rilevato il monossido di carbonio (CO), ad alta temperatura (riscaldato a 5.0V), rileva metano, propano, ecc.
