Offered this Rare Antique Copeland Late Spode "Good Old ALE" Drinking Pitcher measuring approximately 6"H x 6"W. This unique pitcher is in good condition with the exception of a professional repair to a crack in the handle, a small nick on the lip and some wear to the gold trim. It is decorated with raised blue and white english pub scenes on a grey base with a drinking limeric "Good Old ALE" on the side, and has a burgundy neck adorned with grapes on a vine. It has embelished gold trim on the handle, lip, and base that was added at the time of the repair; and is marked with the brown Copeland Late Spode Rd No 180288 bridge hallmark and impressed England Copeland 18 on the bottom, dating it to the late 19th century. The limeric reads: Good old ALE, Makes beauty fresh: It cases love. It's fools dissention. It cheers the heart. It feeds the flesh: It lengthens life. It's deaths prevention. It makes a beggar seem a king. Boys it hardens. Fools it sharpens. ALE so rare a thing. Please contact me with any questions prior to purchase and thank you for viewing this item.
