Fireman Sam is a Welsh television programme for children about a fireman called Sam, his fellow firemen and the people of a fictitious Welsh town called Pontypandy. Two ex-firemen from Kent had the original idea of the show. It first aired in 1985 and has evolved to the present day. Pontypandy is now a coastal fishing town instead of a town in the mountains as it was in the earlier series.
