"The Game Restoration Program - Civilian Army Aids Game and Fish Projects"
by Henry P. Davis; Massachusetts has interested the C.C.C. in building dams in the Harold Parker State Forest for natural hatcheries. Sixty CCC men are providing the labor. It is probably the first concrete evidence of actual cooperation...other states should try to secure similar projects.
Also, a game study is being done at the Harold Parker Forest.

 The first story - "Mountains and Mule Deer" by Vernon E. Megee - is set in the high country of the California Sierra's.

 "Pipestone Letters - No. 8" by N. Vernon-Wood; this is a regular feature - a letter from Bar WB Ranch, Pipestone Creek, Alberta, to Mr. John Lincoln, Wall Street, New York.

Tex deals with a guest who brought along a map...

"A Happy Landing" by Kenneth Fuller Lee - Ken and George see this little lake when their plane coughs and dies at 6,000 feet...turns out it's full of trout!

"Skeet Questions and Answers" - from the National Skeet Shooting Association, Inc. - Skeet's inventor explains the way it was meant to be...

In "Fishing"; R. E. Coulson tells about "Action in Bass Plugs" - stories about using different types.
Then in "
Short Casts" he has a few more tips on muskies, crayfish, a mouse and frog for bait.

In the "Camping" department, edited by Dillon Wallace;

"Necessary Implements" - five indispensable articles of equipment;
1) matches in a waterproof matchbox,
2) sharp jackknife,
3) belt ax,
4) sheath knife,
5) compass (and know how to use it).

Then Dillon tells what to do if bitten in "Snakes",
describes the right way "To Build a Fire",
says you need to
"Air the Bedding" every sunshiny day,
tells what to do and not to do with "The Ax",
answers a question on what material to use for "Light Tenting",
has a recipe for "Bannocks",
suggests a "Medicine Kit",
describes some choices of "Tent Models",
and advises using "Tent Stoves".

In the "Boating" department, by Doc Schnurmacher;
"Inboard Tinkering" tells about new motors, the Gifford Wood Stern Drive, "The Vee Drive", and "Shallow Water Craft" ideas.
"The Cheapest Boat" - Merle Howard Guise, of New York City, was prospecting for gold in Alaska when he ran out of food. He built a boat with willows, covered them with his tent, clothes, and caribou fat, and ran 300 miles of whitewater to food.

In the "Shooting" section, by Captain E.C. Crossman;

"The duRemington Arms Co.?" - duPont Powder Company buys Remington Arms Company, as Western Cartridge Company had bought Winchester Repeating Arms a year or more ago...
"An Accurate Revolver" - He really likes the new H & R single action (and double action).
"Another 30-30 Opinion" - E. C. C. quotes Col. Townsend Whelen, in Outdoor Life, who says it's out-of-date, and we should stop buying these rifles.
"I Didn't Think It Could Be Done" - he really likes the new Mossberg .22 rifles - and says his "howls for better euipment" are responsible for the peep sights as standard equipment.

Also; "More Supermatch Western" tests, heavier parts "For the Woodsman Colt Owner" (to handle HiSpeed ammo), "Not All of the Story" (ammo with slow ignition may be accuarate from the machine rest, but not from the shoulder), "Mebbe They Sent Me a Bum Rifle" (Winchester Hornet Model 54 test groups at 200 yards), and "Colt Story Contest" - prizes are being offered for the best and most interesting story of bringing down game with a Colt revolver or pistol.

In the "Dogs" department, Henry P. Davis discusses "The Forgotten Dog" - this is about the old-time cur dog; where has he gone?
