JTX Smart H4 LED HID Canbus Load Module fixes blue dash light & spotties suits all Toyota

These new SMART modules by JTX now do the job of our old loom which addressed negative switching and they also fix the blue hi beam dash lights and spotties – all in one (or 2 I should say).

To eliminate confusion and for all those who can’t read instructions we set out to make these as fool proof as possible. Simply plug these into the headlight sockets and then plug your new LED lights into these. And that’s all there is to it. No loom and no auto elecs needed.

These now fix all of the following …

  • Negative or Earth switching which all toyotas have
  • Reverse polarity issues
  • Blue hi beam dash light
  • Spotties not coming on in high beam
  • Some cars have computers polling to test loads and these satisfy those computers too.

No matter what brand of LED or even HID you are trying to use, if you have a Toyota or a Suzuki then you do need these and these are all you need.

You need 1 module per light. This listing is for 2 modules. If you have 4 lights you will need a second set.

Our customers give a 12 out of 10 for low beam because it's well beyond their expectations

High beams rivals spot lights and way better than standard high beam

For H4 globe applications

Please read on to learn why it's needed, how it works and what makes JTX units better than the rest for Toyotas.

The role of the JTX Canbus Load Module is to load up the circuit so the car can see that the lights are turned on. Often with LED or HID lights and globes the power draw on your car's original system is too low or virtually nothing if alternative wiring kits are involved. Toyota is the most prone to this. But also some modern cars have computers sensing for loads and will throw a warning light on the dash or even put the car in limp mode if it thinks the headlights dont work.

Toyota's way of telling you your high beams are not working is that the blue high beam dash light wont come on. It's been like that since Toyota first started and is across their entire range of 4wd's, cars and trucks. So Toyota have a load sensing relay that turns the blue dash light on - it wants to see a load of about 50w before it switches on. It is a simple way that does not involve computers.

Also, the trigger point to power your spot lights and light bars also runs off that same load sensing relay which means your spotties wont work if that relay can not detect a big enough load.

TEST - You can test this theory yourself by plugging one of your old lights or globes into one of your low beam headlight sockets - If the problems go away then your system needs a load similar to your old light to fix things up but of course you dont want that old light hanging around in your engine bay so that's where the load modules step in to do that task.

To consume energy you have to do something with it and so the output needs to be noise, light or heat. Assuming nobody wants a noisy box or a new light in their engine bay we need to somehow manage heat and this is where so many other brands fail. We first saw the Resistor concept. It is exactly the same principal as a regular globe but the thin wire that emits light and gets hot is set in a ceramic block. It works but eventually gets hot. Then we saw the Capacitor concept and a capacitor is like a battery that can consume power and charge up and hold it like a tank holds water and let it out slowly. The capacitor is going through rapid pulses of charge and release cycles and it does not get hot and does work in the modern computer cars. But alas it does not work in Toyotas - Quickly the capacitor reaches full charge and can not consume any more power so although it first looks like it will do the job it soon stops working. Also the output of the capacitor styles are often way too low at about 8v and so the led lights dont turn on. This is what is happening when you try a capacitor style canbus and the lights stop working all together.

At JTX we have wrestled with this a lot - the capacitor styles sort of worked but then didnt. In the fullness of time (and we have been looking after Toyota owners for a long time) we just can not deal with the ups and downs and high failure rates of the capacitor styles so JTX went back to the resistor style and addressed the heat issue to get the job done right. JTX has sold over 5,000 canbus load modules over 10+ years and we have worked out that step 1 is we need to be resistor style to guarantee it works 100% and remains to be reliable. Then step 2 was to develop one that works 100% but heat output is minimal, safe and acceptable and not put out any extra heat by being too good. For us it was a lot like trying lower watt globes to see how low we can go and still do the job. We also found we can share the task and halve the heat by having 1 on each side of the car. As such this listing is for a pair (2 x units) and are a piggy back fitment so your lights or wiring harness can plug into it too. For cars with only 2 lights it is ok for the unused headlight socket (your wiring harness only has 1 pick up) to have nothing else plugged into the canbus module.

JTX resistor style units get warm but even after a few hours of operation they are not too hot to touch. There are some out there that also do the job but get so stinking hot they melt plastic and would burn you on touch.

It's fair that we expect you to do some research of your own - ask suppliers if their unit is a Capacitor or Resistor style. Then once you find a resistor style ask how hot does it get. Sellers should know this about their products.

We sell these JTX Canbus Load Modules as 1 pair (2 x units). That is all you need regardless of whether your Toyota has 2 headlights or 4 headlights. They plug into each of your old hi/lo headlight sockets (in the case of 4 headlights these are your 2 outer most lights).

JTX LED lights are made by us here in Melbourne. We carry all the components to make up all colour combinations. We make them up and send next day or even same day if we know soon enough. We are the only manufacturer of LED headlights in Australia. And in addition to our ADR approval the QLD Dept of Transport also needed to discuss technical specifications with the manufacturer (and not the importer) and because they dont call China, then by default we became the only LED lights approved for QLD - please consider supporting Australian businesses.
