Description: This excellent coloured set pictures many types of car, both British and Continental, from the small German Isetta ‘bubble’ car to the luxurious Vanden Plas Princess 4-litre Austin, all shown against appropriate town or country backgrounds. In fact the majority of the models are British. Ah, nostalgia indeed! The text backs describe each model and the base reminds collectors that a special 32-page album could be had for 6d. Big Chief I-Spy (Charles Worrell), inventor of the I-Spy books, joined the Daily Mail in 1948 and his column was in the paper daily until 1986. The I-Spy books were hugely popular with some 20 million being sold in the 1950s and ‘60s, and during that period the Priory Tea & Coffee Company issued a dozen or so series of I-Spy cards, including this one.
