TARZAN & THE ANT MEN
Edgar Rice Burroughs
Grosset & Dunlap,  1932-1934
Facsimile dust jacket
covered in clear Brodart jacket cover
Book 10 of the Tarzan series

CONDITION:  The book is in great condition.  The front cover looks almost new. The spine has a wrinkle down its length and a little fade;  just a touch of wear at top and bottom of spine.  No marks, names, writings of any sort. The hinges are not broken or split; the pages are not bent; the pages are clean; the binding is strong.  The top edge is dyed green and in good condition; the side and bottom edges have slight age yellowing. These editions only came with one illustration page – this one is in great shape.

The dust jacket is a nice color copy of an original from my personal collection.   It is enclosed in a new Brodart protective sleeve.  Photos show details of what book and jacket look like, so be sure to view them.

FOR COLLECTORS: The 1st edition of this title was printed by McClurg & Co. with a single print run of 10,000 in 1924 (brown covers with dark brown lettering).  The unsold copies were remaindered by Grosset & Dunlap (“G&D” appearing at base of spine; “McClurg” on title page) as a “mixed edition”.  It is easily identified with an orange cloth cover.  Joe Lukes' Bibliography of ERB titles published by Grosset & Dunlap identifies 16 additional G&D reprints from 1925 to 1937.  G&D then reprinted this 4 times between 1943-1945 as a cheaper wartime “Madison Square” edition. There are at least 4 more G&D reprints from 1950 – 1967 as “Adventure Stories for Boys” editions.

This book is the 12th G&D reprint as evidenced by the frontispiece  and the 33 ERB titles listed in the rear ad pages.  Print date is between 1932-1934.
