Icon of Our Lady of Vladimir is believed to be the main holy relic for the Russian people. This icon softens people’s hearts and strengthens their faith. The icon came to Russia from Byzantium in early 12th century. Starting from September 1999 the icon is kept in the Tretyakov State Gallery. Throughout history Theotokos of Vladimir has been saving Russia from troubles. It is commemorated on May 21, June 23, and August 26.
