This establishment was regarded as one of the more reactionary, cutting-edge ateliers in the French capital. It was located in the Rue Notre Dame des Champs in the art district of Montparnasse and was established towards the end of the 19th century by painter Auguste Joseph Delecluse (1855-1928). Its principal teachers included the founder, Georges Callot (1857-1903) and Paul Delance (1848-1924). In the late C19th it was fashionable for people from the British Isles to include sometime studying in Paris as part of their artistic education.
In this case the medal was awarded to a Miss Coddington for joint second place in a drawing competition.
