Chinese Calligraphy & Watercolor Painting of a Buddhist Sutra; Up for sale is the Chinese calligraphy and watercolor painting on paper of a Buddhist Sutra, signed by the artist and dated early 20^th century. 

The calligraphy was arranged in the shape of a pagoda to inscribe the Buddhist Sutra “Prajna Paramita Heart Sutra” or “般若波羅密多心經” (bore boluo miduo xinjing), translated as “The Heart of the Perfection of Wisdom”. The 268 Chinese characters were well organized and written. The scattered flowers at both sides of the pagoda with colorful cloud underneath might suggest when chanting the Sutra, the flowers from all heavens would spread as offerings to the Buddha. The painting was signed by the artist, sealed with his stamps and framed under glass.

Measures:  Frame, 37” x 31”. Panel, 26 ½” x 23”. Condition: Very good, except with some tainted spots as shown in the photos and a few chips to the frame.
