1988 Topps Baseball Card Variations-Over 4500 Different Cards
There are a total of 6 color variations that exist on the backs of the cards when seen under UV lighting (not a black light).
All six color variations are as follows
Purple ink on back
Red ink on back
Peach ink on back
Orange ink on back
Orange Glow back
Orange Super Glow back (Florescent orange)
Every Card 1-792 has 6 different color variations.
A few of the variations are extremely
RARE!
Cards #3 Mark McGwire RB, #4 Eddie Murray RB, #18 Al Leiter, #528 Checklist, #778 Keith Comstock Errors with corrected cards may have 6-12 variations.
I cannot confirm all 5 of these cards have every color
variation in the error & corrected versions but I was able to confirm some of the
color variations have both the error & corrected cards.
Some are only than 3-6% of the entire print run.
There are a total of 20 different listings featuring over 4500 different 1988
Topps Baseball Cards.
You will receive the card of the player in the stock photo selected
The color variation you will receive is the one NOT marked with an X across part of the main photo.
The main photo does not show well enough how different each variation really is. I tried to take the best photo I could. In person there is a very noticeable difference.
For example the Super Glow back actually glows under UV lighting as bright as a construction workers vest at night.
Much brighter than the main photo would indicate.
You will notice the X's change locations in the photos
as the variations change throughout the 20 listings.
If you collect a player that has multiple cards
in the regular set I recommend checking all 20 different
listings.
Each different listing is numbered 1/20,2/20 etc to help with the very confusing nature these variations represent.
