Over the years our inventory of 1866 Russell & Erwin #272 rim locks has built up, but we were rarely ever able to find a matching keeper (with the distinctive round hump around the top and bottom screw holes) that would perfectly match the body of the rim lock. When we finally did find a perfect match, we decided to have a small run reproduced so we would have a match for others we would find while on salvage picks. .
The keeper measures 3 5/8" and while it will match up with any rim lock of that width, it is a perfect fit for the original model #272 Russell & Erwin of the same width. Note that Russell & Erwin made a larger version of this exact style that requires a 3 7/8" keeper with the same humps. (See picture comparing the two locks).
