ASIAN for sure, antique & very old for sure, no marks, fine high fired white clay, decorated in "Emperors Kilns" fineness, large, no chips, cracks, damage, repairs. We have owned for 40+ years, estate sale in SF CA mid 70's, 

old then! 

Absolutely gorgeously well done, never seen another in this style, shape, size at other estate sales, antique stores, or museums for that matter, not sure of its real purpose, definitely not a "tourist item" ever! 

Measures: 12 inches tall w-lid on, 10 inches tall w/o lid, 8.5 inches deep, width is 9 inches, front & rear panels are 5.75 inches wide X 5.75. each if the 4 corner areas are 3 inches wide X 5.75 tall, rolls under to a octagonal rim of  7.5 inches by 5 inches, with 4 corners at 2.75 inches, white clay, no marks, no problems, perfect, old  & beautiful.

Weighs 6 pounds, lid perfect as well. 

Amazing piece, museum quality very old, looks like Emperor on horseback in 2 parts of the decorative scenes!
