With this kit you can play your Amstrad CPC games with an official PSX controller!

Just slot it into your joystick port and you're ready to rock!

Second fire button for those games that need it.

There's even a diagnostic mode to test all your Playstation controller buttons!.

To use this adapter you will need a PSX gamepad. One of the early models will work, it doesn't need the analog sticks. A few pounds from any market.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS ADAPTER NEEDS 5V DC POWER, AS DOES THE PSX GAMEPAD. BECAUSE THE AMSTRAD JOYSTICK PORT DOES NOT HAVE A 5 VOLT PIN, WE HAVE FITTED A MINI USB PORT. YOU WILL NEED A CELLPHONE CHARGER WITH USB PLUG TO POWER THIS ADAPTER. THESE ARE READILY AVAILABLE ON EBAY FOR JUST A COUPLE OF POUNDS. YOU MIGHT ALREADY HAVE ONE THROWN IN A DRAWER WITH AN OLD CELLPHONE!

Compatibility.

Host Computer: Works with all Amstrad CPC series computers.

Gamepads: Tested working on Sony official Gamepads: SCPH-1200 PS1, SCPH-1080 Analog, SCPH10010 Dualshock. May work on other Sony/third party models but not guaranteed. Will not work with wireless gamepads.

Because the design involved a few extra expensive components, it's considerably more expensive to make than the Amiga version. We have absorbed some of the extra cost ourselves to keep it below £20.00.

What's "Bus Contention"?

Traditional joysticks work great with the Amstrad because they mainly use microswitches. More modern joystick adapters use MCU (microchip) based switching, which work great with some computers like the Amiga, but not the CPC. This is because of an effect called Bus Contention, which seriously messes with microchip based awitching. This adapter is MCU based, but does not suffer from the bus contention problems because we have added extra components, called relays, which act like the microswitches in regular joysticks.

Please note this item ships without an enclosure, exactly as seen in the first listing photo.
