NOTE: There are many specific gas heaters in the market, sometimes called garage, shop or unit heaters.
Most of them make use of a fan time delay to control the PRE-PURGE sequence and COOLING DOWN time.
The timing for ON & OFF varies from 1 to 110 sec. Those timers are different from regular electric heat sequencers (even though they look alike...).
You may find some inexperienced sellers who offer a cheap electric heat sequencer for use in your gas heater as a delay timer - not very smart...
