Large Antique French Figural marble Clock with bronze
Allegorical group ca 1840
This
large and impressive antique clock is made in France around 1840-1850.
Solid
clock base is made of black marble which is magnificently ornate with gilt bronze.
Base is
surmounted by brown patinated bronze group representing lovely Allegorical
scene representing harvest. The lady holding a grape in her hand and the child
drinking from the shell.
The patina of the bronze group has some wear and
scratches due the age.
Bronze
gilded dial is with blue cartouches and Roman numerals.
French
movement is with silk suspension, chiming at the 1/1 and 1/2 hours on a
silvered bronze bell.
