Pewter Penguin, Officially named by the makers as the 'Auk Jug'. From research I found that the decanter was possible made in 1903. Jugendstil Pewter Ware company from Cologne introduced this series of Pewter ware in 1894-5 & the lead free alloy was always marked with a 4000 upwards, the last # 4999 was produced in 1925 when the owner (J.P. Kayser Sohn) died. It is Art Nouveau Metalwork. Approximate dimensions from the side is 11.25" Tall & 5.5" wide at widest point, from the front the piece is 4.5" wide at widest point. 'Kayserzinn' is a synonym for exceptionally high quality. Hugo Leven (a well known sculptor in pewter silver) designed the decanter, but left the company in 1904. Marked on the bottom with 'KAYSERZINN 4433 3'. Piece is in exceptional condition considering age (please view photos carefully, they are true to condition & part of the description), has wear commiserate with age. I have had the piece for over 50 years. Thanks for Viewing!
