Neck FAQs:

  • Is it compatible with my guitar body?
  • Critical dimensions are scale length (the distance between the nut and the bridge) and neck pocket shape and size. See the item description for details of each neck – heel widths are measured at the widest point and approx. 5mm above the base of the heel. You should expect to have to carry out some light sanding to optimise the fit of a neck heel in a body pocket.
  • What is the difference between Strat and Tele neck ‘shoulders’?
  • Tele necks typically have ‘square’ shoulders. The exception is that some Tele Deluxe models have Strat type necks. Strat and Jazzmaster necks typically have ‘round’ shoulders. Search for 'strat tele neck shape' on the internet for more information.
  • Is the headstock shape identical to any brand/model?
  • The headstock shape is cut to the style described in the listing but is not copied from or identical to any specific brand or model.
  • What is the depth of the neck at the ‘x’ fret?
  • Please use the ‘contact seller’ function to ask for detail about dimensions. Please identify which individual neck (i.e. neck no. ‘x’) your inquiry is about.
  • How do I attach the neck to a guitar body?
  • There are many online tutorials which provide guidance on fitting a ‘bolt-on’ neck. We recommend 'How to install a Fender style (bolt-on) neck' from StewMac’s Trade Secrets series (please note we are not affiliated with StewMac/Stewart MacDonald in any way and we do not supply any StewMac products).
  • Will I have to carry out any set-up work once I’ve fitted the neck?
  • You can expect to have to adjust the truss rod, and we would recommend final fret-levelling and dressing to optimise playability of the neck. Again, there are many online tutorials which provide guidance on setting up a replacement neck. We recommend 'Fine tuning a bolt-on replacement neck' from StewMac’s Trade Secrets series (please note we are not affiliated with StewMac/Stewart MacDonald in any way and we do not supply any StewMac products).
  • Can I return a neck if I’ve already fitted it, added tuners, or levelled/dressed the frets?
  • We can only accept returns if the neck is in exactly the condition in which it was supplied. We will not accept returns if the neck has been drilled or otherwise modified in any way. Please make sure the neck is suitable for your guitar before you do anything to it.
  • Do you make custom necks?
  • No, we can only supply what we have on our listings.
