Up for auction is a 616 gram iron-nickel Campo del Cielo meteorite from Argentina. It measures over 4 inches across. This specimen is covered with many regmaglypts, also called thumbprints. There are dimples, grooves, ridges and indentations from its ablative flight through the upper atmosphere. These surface features represent softer parts of the meteorite that melted away from the heat of compressed air in front of the meteorite (ram pressure.) This specimen has a very nice sculptural shape.

Classified as a Group IAB Og polycrystalline, coarsest octahedrite, Campos were rediscovered by Spanish Conquistadors in 1576. These are some of the best quality iron meteorites available in their price range. All meteorites come with an ID card.
