Autographed German Ross Verlag postcard photograph of the German stage & Tone Film actor.

Walter Steinbeck (1878 - 1942) was a German stage actor and later supporting actor and director in Tone Films.

Steinbeck was typically cast as a supporting actor in well-bred upper crust or military roles, as well as bankers and industrialists. The son of a school principal, he acted on stage from 1900 first in Graz and then typically at the Berlin Schillertheater. The actor was known for careful preparation of all of his roles and his work ethic.  He made films as well as of 1912 in the film, "Der Film von der Königin Luise".  His performances became even more outstanding with the advent of talkies.  Though he regularly directed theatre performances, he only directed one film "Unter falscher Maske".

He suffered a heart attack on stage during a performance of "Ich liebe vier Frauen".

A partial list of his films included one posthumous one.
