Advertising Poster Stamp

Mærkat type poster stamp issued by Livsforsikrings A/S Utrecht, which is a Danish subsidiary of a life insurance company based in Utrecht, Netherlands.
According to the Dutch Virtual Museum website at: vvmbest.nl

    AMEV NV
The roots of insurer AMEV date from 1847, from a local Utrecht funeral fund with the motto "Let op uw einde" [which roughly translates to "Protection upon your death"]. In exchange for a weekly premium of a few cents, the surviving relatives receive a death benefit payment to pay for the funeral. In addition to the funeral fund, the modern life insurer Levensverzekering Maatschappij Utrecht was founded in 1883. Both through production and through acquisitions, De Utrecht succeeds in acquiring a leading position. De Utrecht is a family business dominated by the Bol, Ingenegeren, Negerman and Verloop families. For five generations, these families sit on the boards of directors and the supervisory board. In order to safeguard family interests and to facilitate takeovers, the General Company for the Exploitation of Insurance Companies was established in 1920 (AM EV). In the merger wave at the start of the 1960s, it is necessary to work in a larger context and the character of family business disappears. Many life insurers and non-life insurers will become part of the AMEV group. They continue together under the new name AMEV. The integration was completed in 1974. In 1983 the operating companies in the Netherlands were grouped in an NV under the name AMEV Nederland. As soon as the structural policy between banks and insurers becomes freer, AMEV is the first Dutch insurer to decide in 1990 to cooperate fully with a bank: VSB Groep. In the same year, AMEV and the Belgian insurance company AG Group bundle their operational activities into one group under the name Fortis. Fortis acquires ASR Insurance Group in 2000.
The image of a young man planting a tree, with multiple generations harvesting its fruit in the background, has been used in the company's marketing as early as 1910 (and possibly earlier).

This stamp is part of the series published by the F.E.Bording Company, and has the company imprint, along with Mærkat Nr. 3113. Based on the mærkat number, this stamp was probably issued in 1944.
Stamp is VF, OG, NH.

Approximate Image Size: 30 x 40 mm.

After 35+ years I decided to retire from being an active Cinderella Stamp dealer. Most of my working inventory plus backup stock was sold at public auction. However, I have retained some material that I will be offering for sale. In addition, I have some "new" material that was mixed into lots I have bought for my own collections. I will be listing some of the material in my eBay store at fixed prices. I will also be offering some material at auction, either as single items or mixed lots. There will be many bargains available. There will be large and small lots, some containing similar material, some containing a random mixture, and some containing only one or a few items. The condition will be mixed, but none of the lots will be just accumulations of damaged or faulty stamps (unless specifically listed as such).

Items in stockpage or larger lots may be removed and repackaged into glassines to save on shipping costs.

A Note about Poster Stamps and Gum: Because many poster stamp collectors are primarily interested in the image on the stamp, the absence or presence of gum on the back is of little concern. If no mention of gum is made, then there may or may not be gum present. If you are only interested in poster stamps with original gum, please inquire before bidding. Actual condition issues (that are not apparent from the scan) WILL be described.

* A Note about "Stock Images": Occasionally I will have more than one example of an item in inventory. Rather than scan each one individually, I may use the same image for multiple examples of the item. If that is the case, the item supplied will be in substantially the same, or better, condition than the image. Any such items will have the words: "STOCK IMAGE" at the end of the description.
