The benefit of the light Angled Mouth Loose Ring Snaffle is that it provides plenty of room for the horses tongue.

The sweet iron metal oxidizes and a sweet taste is produced which is preferred by some horses.

The added benefit of a copper lozenge gives a warm feel in the mouth and reduces the nutcracker effect of this bit.

The loose rings can help reduce leaning on the bit because they move.

The combination of the Sweet Iron mouthpiece & the Copper Lozenge promotes salivation & acceptance.

Nowadays good quality sweet iron bits are safe and well made, combinations of copper and sweet iron.

PLEASE NOTE:

Sweet Iron will fade with the passage of time.
The Bit will go Rusty and it's entirely normal.
This is the desired effect of the Sweet Iron bits.
If a Sweet Iron bit is not used for a while, an orange-brown rust layer may form on the mouthpiece.
Simply remove this by wiping the bit with a damp cloth.
