Does not attach directly to the drum shell, which will give the drum maximum resonance and a longer sustain.
The mount goes in between the lug and the hoop, the tension rods pass through rubber grommets in small ears on the mount which is how it holds the drum. There is enough play to allow the drum to hang naturally and without tension, allowing for increased resonance.
