This item is intended for those wanting to service and repair FT-101 series radios.
There will come a time when the 6JS6A, 6JS6B, 6JS6C tubes in your Yaesu FT-101-B-E-F series radio will need replacing.
The 101, B, E, EE, EX, F, FE, FX transceivers were specifically built using a pair of Toshiba Shibaura Japan 6JS6 horizontal sweep tubes.
Short supply was almost immediate with the Toshiba tubes, so Yaesu sourced the 6JS6 tubes from the N.E.C. company.
This is why all the late model E's, the F, FE & FX had N.E.C. tubes.
The N.E.C. company stopped all 6JS6 tube manufacturing in 1979, as Solid state devices quickly replaced sweep tubes.
N4ML - Milton Lowens (founder of Fox Tango International) wrote about this in the 1980-81 Fox Tango newsletter.
As the new Toshiba & N.E.C. tube supplies dried up, N4ML had research conducted on U.S.A. tube use in the 101 series.
The USA 6JS6 tubes are an abundance & are quite economical when comparing them to the cost of Toshiba & or N.E.C.
Documentation shows the original Japan & Korean tubes have a completely different inter-electrode capacitance than the USA manufactured tubes.
In order to use the U.S.A variety of 6JS6 tubes, the documentation states that a simple fixed value capacitor change is all that is required to make neutralization possible.

The "C125 Mod" as many call it, consists of removing the factory installed 100pf 1000V DC molded silver mica capacitor (numbered 125 in the Yaesu manuals),
& installing this 10pf 1000V DC silver mica capacitor you are purchasing here in this auction.
I have personally performed this capacitor change many times while recapping / refurbishing the FT 101 B-E-F series radios.
I've been asked many times to sell these on eBay, to help provide others around the world with an easy to buy solution.
So here it is folks!
Please...Do not substitute this silver cap with a different type or a different kind of capacitor.
Silver mica capacitors are high precision, high stability, very reliable capacitors.
They are used at high frequencies (10 & 11 meters) where low loss (high Q) & low capacitance change is necessary.
Substitutions cannot withstand the heat, voltage & current found inside the FT-101 tube compartment and
substitutions will rapidly change in capacitance value thus failing prematurely.
You must use this silver mica capacitor that is rated for 10pf 1kV.
Please do not risk having your expensive tubes fail prematurely.
Please remember to keep all leads as short as possible.
Install this new 10pf 1kV capacitor in the same exact location as the factory original (as shown in my photos.)
This will prevent electrical arcs & or shorts in the pa tube compartment /circuit.
In very rare instances, the factory installed L7 coil may be leaning away from the air variable, making the capacitor leads too short to span the distance.
Should the capacitor leads be too short to make a point to point connection,
simply solder on an extension lead coming off the L7 coil, then attach this cap as shown to complete the point to point connection.
