On offer here is an engraved silver cup given to John Paine Van Mater (Sr.), an author and leader in the Theosophical Society by 'his Godmother' in 1952. The cup weighs about 9.7 ounces and is hallmarked and stamped 'Henry Hoyt', the ostensible maker of the piece. 

A scarce artifact of this interesting and well collected philosophical / religious organization founded by H.P. Blavatsky.

We recently acquired the library and effects of John Paine Van Mater, Ingrid Van Mater & John P. Van Mater Jr., all of whom worked for and served in leadership capacity for the The Theosophical Society in Point Loma, Covina & Pasadena California. We acquired a wide range of correspondence, photos, books, artifacts and other literature spanning 6 decades of this families involvement in the Theosophical Society.
