New BMW E36 M3 and E46 M3 oil cooler thermostat bypass valve (oil diverter)
Fits:
E36 M3 - EURO spec only (3.0 and 3.2)
E46 M3 3.2
Z3M - cabrio and coupe - S54 engine only
Z4M - cabrio and coupe
BMW S50 and S54 engines have oil cooler thermostat that closes oil flow to
the cooler until the engine is warm. Thermostat opens when the engine has warmed up but even then only a portion of oil flow is directed
through oil cooler which makes these cars run high oil temperatures on track. This oil diverter valve makes all the oil flow go through the cooler making oil
temps on track lower by 15-25 deg C with stock oil cooler.
WHY OUR OIL DIVERTER:
- Simplified design allows removal of original thermostat spring what makes oil flow even more efficient
- Aluminium is lighter and better in heat distribution
- Clients use them on endurance race cars and get very good effectiveness
