Up for sale here is this complete rebuild kit for the Realistic 42-2101, 42-2101A, and 42-2109 phono preamp. This is all the parts you need to rebuild any of those phono preamps. The preamp itself is not included, but they're pretty easy to find.

These little Realistic phono preamps are amazingly good even as stock 40-year-old equipment, but with a little upgrading they become much better. Once you rebuild one of these you'll have a more accurate phono EQ curve, lower noise floor, and significantly improved sound. This kit includes 12 capacitors, 5 transistors, and 6 resistors.

These are all high-quality brand new genuine parts. The capacitors are all Nichicon PW, Panasonic FC, and Wima film caps at the same capacitance (uf) ratings and the same or improved voltage ratings, and the transistors are Fairchild/Onsemi KSC1845FTA, which are the correct subs for the original transistors. Resistors are Xicon 1/2W 1% metal film precision resistors. These are extremely high-quality parts, and they are what I use when I rebuild these preamps.

I will include surprisingly well-written instructions, but this is a little complicated, and you should know what you're doing and have a decent soldering iron and a multimeter. This is fairly delicate work, so if you're not an experienced solderer this may not be a good idea. Please see my pictures for details.  The last four pictures show a 42-3209 phono preamp with this kit installed.  They are just for a visual aid--there is no actual preamp or board in this listing.
