The insole and lining are soft real leather. There is arch support built into the insole.  The black leather upper is thick, high-quality leather. I love the side leather covered buckle for opening and closing these shoes.  The white bottom sole is thick and shock absorbing.  It gives you about one inch of lift at the heels.

Being high quality Leather the toe area can be stretched, and in any case, should be broken in gradually,  not all at once.
