Bleistift auf elfenbeinfarbenem Zeichenpapier, mit B. Wittkamp
signiert, um 1850-85.
J. B. Wittkamp wurde 1820 in Riesenbeck (Westfalen) geboren und
studierte 1837/40 Studium in Rotterdam (bei W. H. Schmidt), dann an
der Akademie in Antwerpen (N. de Keyser u. G. Wappers). 1845 die
Goldene Medaille des Brüsseler Salons, Ehrenmitglied der Akademien
Amsterdam u. Philadelphia. ('La Furie Espagnole' is a spirited historical

J. B. Wittkamp was born in Riesenbeck (Westphalia, Germany) in 1820
and studied first in Rotterdam (W. H. Schmidt), then in Antwerp
(N. de Keyser and G. Wappers. He mainly worked in Delft and in
Antwerp in the latter part of his career. Honorary member of the
Amsterdam and Philadelphia Academies. ('La Furie Espagnole'
is a spirited historical composition by J. B. Wittkamp, in
'The Illustrated London News', 20. July 1872, p. 70)
