Because the design involved a few extra expensive components, it's a little more expensive than the Amiga version. We have absorbed some of the extra cost ourselves.

What's "Bus Contention"?

Traditional joysticks work great with the C64 because they mainly use microswitches. More modern joystick adapters use MCU (microchip) based switching, which work great with some computers like the Amiga, but not the C64. This is because of an effect called Bus Contention, which seriously messes with microchip based awitching. This adapter is MCU based, but does not suffer from the bus contention problems because we have added extra components, called relays, which act like the microswitches in regular joysticks.

Please note this item ships without an enclosure, exactly as seen in the listing photoS.
