Franz Konwitschny Mendelssohn Beethoven 2 SACD TOWER RECORDS JAPAN

Product introduction

The latest reproduction of the classic performance of "Scotland"! The beautiful and mysterious sound of the last years of Convituni and the elegant expression. Coupling Beethoven's "Overture" and others. The world's first SACD! Mastering only in the analog domain, and directly creating DSD! The 7th edition of SACD hybrid which is the latest reproduction plan of the original ETERA analog tape in the home country!

Mendelssohn is one of the recordings representing the combination of the Convituni and the Gewandhaus Orchestra, and is a World Heritage-class masterpiece that has long been acclaimed since its release. The recording was recorded just one and a half months before the death of Convituni, and ended on June 18, 1962, one day before the last recording of Mozart's "Adagio and Fugue". This month, the recording of Brahms's "Symphony No. 1" was completed on June 12 & 13 (The above is already released on 0301397BC including "Big Fugue"), and the recording of this "Scotland" started on the 14th of It took 3 days. Due to the careful recording at the session, the ability of the orchestra at that time was reflected in a real way, and it is a rare performance that is seen everywhere with live-like enthusiasm. It's no wonder that it was rated as a Klemperer in the early days of stereo recording. In this reprint, the original analog master tape of ETERA is used, and the mastering is done with great care to keep the highest possible sound quality, so you can enjoy their performance more densely than ever before. It's amazing that Convi Tuny's last years recordings are incomparable in order of magnitude and have amazing energy and cohesion for us today. Shouldn't this recording be remembered forever? The recording by C. Strüben is also amazing.

For the coupling, we recorded Beethoven's "Chorus Fantasy" and six "Overtures" as a sequel to the complete Symphony Collection (0301587BC) released in June 2020. "Chorus Fantasia" is a performance known as an early masterpiece of stereo, and "Overture" is a sound source recorded at the same time as the symphony from 1959-61. Like the well-established symphonies, the performance is a prestigious one based on the mellow sound of the Gewandhaus Orchestra, which was at its peak under Convituni, at the time, and it can be said to be the ideal form of Beethoven performance in the former East German era. Is still very attractive today. With a clear and straight look that doesn't cause stress in any of the songs, Convituni's meticulous attention to detail is overwhelming. I am really impressed with the performance with this high-quality sound. No matter which song you take, the performance is highly complete. One of the ultimate performances revived in modern times with the best and latest mastering.
